As an established business woman you are already set apart from many. You have a passion for the services you provide and your drive to turn that passion into a lucrative opportunity is inspiring. You’re not just a career woman, you’re a business woman, an elite and strong woman with a fire that can’t be put out. That fire is something that makes you a savvy business woman but might also hurt your relationship if you’re not careful.
Being a business owner and maintaining a healthy relationship can be challenging, your partner needs to understand the difference between you and other women. As a business owner, here are some of the most important qualities you must keep in mind when finding your soulmate.
Find Someone Who is Understanding
Your partner needs to be understanding of your priorities, your time constraints, your passions, and your future goals. As a female entrepreneur you do not have a normal 9-5 job with weekends off. In fact, many times your business requires you to work longer hours than usual. If you’re a freelancer you may pull out your laptop at 10:30 to fix something for a client. If you’re a photographer you might miss a Saturday night party because you’re photographing a wedding. Whatever it is that takes away your time, communicating to your significant other ahead of time is important. In my experience I did not make a very good choice with that. My partner was very resentful of my business and it got to the point where it would anger him. Sometimes when your career takes a front seat in life, and many times it does if you want to pay the bills and keep your business thriving, your partner needs to be understanding of that. It’s important when you meet a potential life partner that you are at least on the same page with your business expectations.
Find Someone Who is Patient
It takes time to build a successful business and patience is another quality you need to look for in a life partner. You may need to take workshops and do some traveling with your business and your partner may not always be able to come or may not want to. Education is very important to me in my career as a wedding photographer. Photography is always evolving and I must stay on top of my game. Again, I did not make a good choice in this area. Jealousy has no place in a relationship when it comes to education and business. It will only destroy whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish. A good life mate will believe in you and trust that you are only trying to better your business for the sake of your life together. This concept goes hand-in-hand with understanding. An understanding partner will demonstrate patience because they love you and want to support you.
Find Someone Who is Encouraging
Being a business owner can be detrimental to your serenity and self-confidence. Problems in your business can make you question yourself constantly. I constantly beat myself up over mistakes I make. You need to find a significant other who does not compound that stress at home. Positive energy and encouragement from your partner is a must. Without it, you’re climbing up a mountain and your partner is adding ankle weights! A partner who displays a positive attitude and encourages you is one of the biggest keys to a healthy relationship. Don’t take that aspect lightly, life is long and it can be very challenging at times. If you’re with a very negative and critical person it will only seem longer!
